Before All Things — Christ’s Supremacy in Creation and Redemption
Lesson Date: September 14, 2025
Main Scripture: Colossians 1:15–23
Overview:
This week’s lesson invites us to reflect on the unmatched preeminence of Jesus Christ. He is not just our Savior but also the divine agent of all creation. Through Him, all things were made, and through Him, all things are held together. Colossians 1:15–23 presents Christ as the image of the invisible God, the head of the Church, and the reconciler of mankind through the cross.
In the related scriptures, we see:
- 1 Kings 8:12–19; 8:27–30: Solomon’s temple dedication reminds us that though God is too vast to be contained, He chooses to dwell with His people.
- Psalm 89:19–29: David’s covenant foreshadows the eternal kingship of Christ.
- John 1:1–3, 14–18: Christ is the Word made flesh, eternally existent and full of grace and truth.
- Ephesians 2:11–22: Christ breaks down divisions, making peace between people and God.
- Hebrews 2:5–10: Jesus, made lower than angels for a time, is now crowned with glory through His suffering for our salvation.
Application:
In a world full of competing truths and ideologies, this lesson reminds us who Christ is. He is not just before all things in time, but above all things in authority. Let us live with confidence, knowing that we serve the One who reigns over all creation and over every detail of our lives.
